Mobile Laundry

UPDATE:

Thanks to generous donations from Kyle Clark's viewers on 9NEWS, local service clubs, churches and individual friends of Mobile Laundry, we have raised enough money to fix the truck and buy our new machines!

So, what's the holdup?  Turns out they don't make new parts for our old truck so the mechanics at Houska had to search the internet world of used parts and find us an old rear axle.  It was not cheap, arrived in poor condition and they have to fix that part to fix our truck.  We still think this is a better solution then buying a new used truck, starting over with the fitting of new gas, water and electrical lines, etc.

We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping this will all go well and the truck will be back on the road by late April! Thanks for your support and gifts.  We will keep you posted on our progress.

What happened to the Mobile Laundry Truck?

We are sorry to report that on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024 , the Mobile Laundry truck was hit by another vehicle on their way to a laundry site! It was not the Mobile Laundry driver’s fault. The collision caused significant damage, every machine was broken and truck is not operational. We are in the process of working with our insurance company.

In the meantime, our amazing volunteers continue to wash, dry and fold laundry for the individuals and families we serve! They are collecting laundry at our regular sites and bring them to a nearby laundromat. Currently we are washing upwards of 45 loads a day, three times a week, at a cost of $130 each day. This is adding up fast!

If you’d like to donate to help us fill this gap until the truck is up and running, please click the donate button above or mail a check to Homeward Alliance, PO Box 873, Fort Collins, CO 80522 and put “Laundry Repairs” in memo line.  Donations of $250 or more may be eligible to a Homeless Contribution Tax Credit.  Email Tara@homewardalliance.org.

Thank you!

What is Mobile Laundry?

Why Laundry?

Larimer County (Poudre, Thompson and Estes) School Districts report, on average, 2,175 students experience homelessness each year. Families who lack a fixed, regular place to live struggle to meet their basic needs-including access to laundry. Larimer County school personnel report that students are negatively impacted by the lack of clean clothing, including school absences, social stigma and self-esteem issues.

The Loveland community lacks sufficient laundry services for people experiencing homelessness and not having access to clean clothes is a proven barrier to success. Primary hygiene needs such as laundry are often overlooked but essential for anyone trying to secure employment, compete for affordable housing and regain their self-sufficiency.
